Armenia Safety Projects Reviewed

Key safety projects at Armenia NPP were topics of a semiannual review meeting in September. Several projects are awaiting U.S. FY 2000 funding, including the nuclear service water system (spray cooling ponds), emergency feedwater system, installation of a fire detection system, and main steam isolation valves. Each of these projects can be completed during the May 2000 outage with the additional funding. Contractual arrangements were made based on funds obtained by DOE from the U.S. Agency for International Development. (Dennis Meyers, DOE, 301-903-1418; Rich Denning, PNNL, 614-424-7412)*
